  • * UPDATE : 3/10/25 I ordered again tonight and my food was so much better. The general tso chicken was delicious and not overcooked . Food was like the first time I had it. Ordered crispy beef this time. Had good flavor but not my favorite. Scallion pancakes were lighter and crispier this time. Kids liked it. *Old Review: Really disappointed. Had food from here 2 times. The first time was amazing. We went on 1/29/2025 and ate inside the restaurant. We ordered 5 dishes. Every single one was delicious! So tonight I was excited to order their food again for delivery. I got 3 of the items I had ordered previously. The General Tso chicken ( white meat), bean curd with vegetables, and scallion pancakes. Mind you I ordered the exact same way in house. The chicken was super dry and hard, like it was cooked for an hour. Could barely eat it. When I had it before it was perfect and moist. The bean curd was also over cooked dry. The pancakes were very chewy but I expected that since they are fried and with delivery that can happen. Overall just really disappointed since the first experience was amazing. Not likely to try them again if delivered food is this bad.

  • This is my favorite local Chinese restaurant. I was so sad when Good Fortune Cafe closed... but then so thrilled when I heard the owners bought Happy Uncle. All my favorites are back. I love the steamed dumplings and get them basically every time. Very friendly owners, they always greet me by name as I've become a regular. They also redesigned the place and it looks very nice. Everything I'd want in a neighborhood restaurant!

  • It’s sad that happy uncle retired but YOLO cafe has renovated the whole place, provided better service, more food choices with some vegan options. We normally order same food we did when it was happy uncle but lately we’ve been trying new menus. My wife loves the salty and spicy pork chop, made it easier to eat with smaller cuts, spice enough and less breading. I like there vegetarIan beef mixed veggies , i just hope they add more veggies on it. I also like there vegetable soup noodles!

  • Yolo Café is an absolute hidden gem in Germantown! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels warm, welcoming, and modern — the kind of place where you instantly want to relax with a good drink or meal. The menu is full of fresh, flavorful options, and you can tell that everything is made with care. Whether it’s their perfectly brewed coffee, thai tea, boba, or delicious food, the quality really stands out. The portions are generous, taste and presentation is spot-on. The staff is what makes Yolo Café truly special. They are friendly, attentive, and go out of their way to make sure you feel at home. You’re not just another customer here — they treat you like part of the community. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick togo, boba, lunch with friends, or just a cozy spot to hang out and get some work done, Yolo Café checks every box. Germantown needed a place like this, and I can’t recommend it enough. Do yourself a beautiful favor: just YOLO

  • Had an amazing experience today when picking up my order. The ladies were so sweet and welcoming. The food is amazing. Best spot in Germantown that I have tried in years. Everything was freshly cooked, especially the spring rolls since I had to order them while I was there. Crispy beef was actually crispy unlike a lot of other places I've tried. Orange chicken tasted like orange chicken is supposed to. Crispy sesame jumbo shrimp was new to me and a new favorite.

  • What a wonderful restaurant. Can't wait to go back. Sampled a few of their dishes and loved every one of them. I expected it to be good but it was even better than I imagined.

  • I got the house noodle soup and the popcorn chicken. Popcorn chicken is alright. The noodles are a bit softer than I liked and the broth needs more flavor. You can still taste the subtle natural flavors of the fresh condiments like the vegetables… which is nice. It wasn’t salty or anything, and I think it tasted better after adding some soy sauce over the counter. Place is clean and their service is good.

  • I celebrated my friend’s birthday at this restaurant and everyone was satisfied and happy about the food and service. We ordered kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli, Sichuan-style fish filet, and several specialty drinks. Everything was delicious, especially the drinks. They exceeded our expectations. The food portion was better than most of other Chinese restaurants and the price was reasonable too. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Gaitherburg/Germantown areas. Highly recommended.
